Today the Mossel Bay UISP project reached a big milestone with the formal handover of the first enhanced serviced sites at a Mayoral Ceremony held this morning. The Mossel Bay Municipality Deputy Mayor Cliffie Bayman attended the ceremony and formally handed over a completed enhanced serviced site to a lucky beneficiary.
The Mossel Bay UISP project is funded by the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements and is intended to improve the living conditions of all households living in informal settlements through an incremental upgrading process. The vision of informal settlement upgrading interventions is to see informal settlements transformed into sustainable and integrated neighbourhoods where residents have access to decent municipal services and social facilities.
Today is a very exciting day because the handing over of these sites is a culmination of many years of hard work where the very first serviced sites are handed over to beneficiaries of the UISP programme. We believe that these sites will really provide a meaningful and sustained improvement in the quality of life of these lucky beneficiaries.
