The main purpose of the Imbizo held on the 28th of November 2020, included presentations from the Department of Human Settlement of the Western Cape, the Mossel Bay Municipality, DAG, Zutari and the Informal Settlement Executive Task Team, representatives. The goal of the Imbizo was to offer critical information to the stakeholder and beneficiaries of the UISP.

The event was opened by an inspiring message of encouragement by Mr Carel Venter, the Director of Planning and Economic Development at the Mossel Bay Municipality.

David Alli, Chief Town and Regional Planner, Human Settlement Planning, Department of Human Settlements, Western Cape Government spoke about the role of the Department and shared valuable information about the Informal Settlement Support Program and answered critical questions at the panel, that was asked by the Kwanonqaba Community, about the UISP.

The Mossel Bay Municipality, represented by Mr Solomzi Mavi, Mr Lindilizwi Mngxekeza, Manager of Integrated Human Settlement led the presentation of the Municipality.

DAG’s Brian Adams facilitated the Imbizo’s processes and led to the following panel discussions.

Zutari, the Implementing Agent, was represented by Joubert Theart, Anne Timms and Ian Booi. Joubert participated in the Panel Discussion and Question and answer session alongside with the other stakeholders.

Rudolf Schroder, the Project Manager of the UISP in Mossel Bay, prepared the following presentation for the Imbizo.

The day ended with several general questions from the community that were answered by the relevant stakeholder.

DAG, a NGO that supports the Municipality’s UISP project provided transport, provided by local taxi’s, to and from the event, as well as lunch for the participants.
