NGO introduced to community

DAG (Development Action Group) is the NGO appointed by the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements (WCDoHS) to assist the Mossel Bay Municipality on the deepening of the Community Capacity Building Interventions in informal settlements.

DAG will focus on the following supplementary/complementary aspects:

  • Community Capacity Building Interventions (focus on strategic institutional arrangements)
  • Skills Transfer Interventions (focus on participatory upgrading)
  • Sustainable Livelihoods Interventions

DAG was recently introduced to the BLC’s of Kwanonqaba Ward 1 informal settlement and Brandwacht. DAG’s work will be rolled out in phases with the first focus being establishing and strengthening the Informal Settlement Forum, which will focus on improving project communication, as well as the Janitorial Capacity Building Programme, which looks at the cleaning and maintenance of the toilet facilities.

DAG will work in parallel to the contractor that is appointed to install the infrastructure as part of the provision of interim basic services (IBS).
